Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend Connor McCaffery gives one-word reaction to her winning WNBA Rookie of the Year

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, reacted with one word after she was crowned the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

On Sunday, the WNBA announced that the Indiana Fever star was given the award after a sensational first season in the league.

Clark, the No 1 overall pick in April’s WNBA Draft, was unanimously voted for the title, joining Fever teammate Aliyah Boston as the only players on the team to be named best of their class.

Sharing the team’s post on his Instagram story, McCaffery wrote ‘Duh’ as a caption.

In addition to the Rookie of the Year award, Clark was named in the AP All-WNBA First Team with, Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Thomas, and A’ja Wilson. She was also on the AP All-Rookie team with Kamilla Cardoso, Leonie Fiebich, Rickea Jackson, and Angel Reese.

While Clark stood out among first-year players, she finished fourth in MVP votes with six third place, 26 fourth place, and 22 fifth place votes for 130 points.

Collier was the runner-up with 467 points. Stewart, last year’s MVP, was dethroned and finished third with 295 points, as Wilson was voted unanimously with 670 points, earning all first-place votes.

Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and led the league in assists with 8.4 per game. The rookie sensation also led the Indiana Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016.

Her scoring ability has translated well from college to the professional ranks. With a 35-point performance in a barnburner win over the Dallas Wings on September 15, Clark broke the WNBA’s rookie scoring record.

She also broke the single-season assist record set by Alyssa Thomas last season, dishing out 337 dimes this season.

Earlier this month, McCaffery landed an assistant coaching job for Butler University’s men’s basketball program.

He secured the role after joining the Indiana Pacers last summer as a team assistant coach. The job was his first coaching gig after playing the sport at the University of Iowa.
