Lost Roman Map has ATLANTIS at Eye of Sahara Africa! (Richat Structure)

What Exactly Is the Eye of the Sahara, aka the Richat Structure? | HowStuffWorks

Discover the incredible details of the legendary city of Atlantis and the “Eye of the Sahara” structure, which researchers have recently discovered resembles Plato’s description of Atlantis. The Rishat structure, located in the Sahara Desert in Mauritania, is a scientific mystery that remains unexplained and is like no other place on earth.

Many people have never heard of Rishat, even though it should be recognized as a natural wonder. This video presents new evidence that the “Eye of the Sahara” is highly likely the real location of Atlantis. Specifically, an ancient Roman map, drawn by Pomponius Mela some 2,000 years ago, shows “Atlantia” in the northwestern Sahara, along with precise descriptions of the shape of the city of Atlantis, including circles of water and land.

Additionally, there is a document from 1851 that describes Mauritania as having rich gold reserves, and a king from the Mali empire, Mansa Musa, was said to be the richest man in history. This matches the description of Atlantis as a place rich in resources.

Atlantis is said to have had mountains to the north and an ancient river has been identified as the Tom en Reset, which flowed from the Atlas Mountains to the ocean, which existed about 11,700 years ago – the time when Atlantis was destroyed. Signs of extensive water erosion in the Sahara that can be observed from space as well as from scientific studies have shown that a tsunami may have occurred about 11,000 years ago.

Additionally, the Emikusi volcano, which formed about 2 million years ago, may have been affected by past flooding events. The presence of salt in the crater suggests that fresh water was present in the past.

Further investigation of the Rishat structure and survey of the surrounding area is needed to uncover evidence that could confirm that this is the site of Atlantis.

Could the 'Eye of the Sahara' Be the Lost City of Atlantis?

The “Eye of the Sahara” with the Egyptian symbol of the Eye of Horus. While many find this comparison unconvincing, interesting parallels can be found. However, the Sahara, while seemingly an unlikely location for the city of Atlantis, makes sense when considering other details. Atlantis is described as a bustling place with trade, so does it make sense that the city would be in the middle of the ocean? Some studies suggest that the North African region once had a rich river network, making it convenient for travel and trade.

Atlantis was said to have been an empire of ten kingdoms, and it is likely that the remaining kingdoms were located in the island chains in this region, including submerged islands such as the Azores. The capital of Atlantis, described as being shaped like concentric circles, is where the “Eye of the Sahara” fits this bill.

Some have argued that the Rishat structure was a natural phenomenon and therefore could not be Atlantis, but Poseidon, the god of the sea, was also understood to be a form of mother nature, so it is not surprising that humans built on unique natural formations. Plato said that Atlantis was located “before” the Pillars of Hercules, not “west,” and that as you exit the Strait of Gibraltar, the current takes you south, close to Rishat.

Plato also described the area of Atlantis after the disaster not as the ocean floor but as marshy areas with grass. Geological studies show that as the ice melts, the weight of the land changes, causing some areas to rise while others sink, which may have affected Rishat.

Finally, it is worth noting that opposite Rishat is Zealandia, a recently discovered submerged continent, suggesting a possible connection between the two. A final argument is that Plato’s measurements of the city’s size may have changed over the centuries. While some may argue that Rishat’s size is too large, with language changes over thousands of years, it’s unlikely that the information would have remained the same.

Many of the details are too impressive to ignore. Whether Atlantis was real or not, the “Eye of the Sahara” deserves further study. We need to discuss the science behind the Sahara’s changes.
