A secret excavation called “Operation Sunray” in 1990 took place in the small village of Trichia, Bulgaria, where the military believed Zar Samuel had buried a huge treasure from the 11th century. However, only a handful of officers, including Colonel Peter Canev, knew that the real target was not the treasure, but a mysterious object called “Object Number One”.
Some speculated that it was the lost Ark of the Covenant, while others believed it was alien technology that could bend space-time. The mission became even more mysterious when strange phenomena occurred, such as mysterious sounds, the feeling of being watched, and ghostly apparitions.
After sensing strange things, Colonel Canev invited Colonel Delo Nanov, a scientist specializing in advanced technology and paranormal research, to join the project. However, as they began to dig, the equipment began to malfunction and the soldiers began to feel nervous. They saw phenomena such as floating glowing spheres and a feeling of suffocation in the air. Things came to a head when a young lieutenant disappeared without a trace.
To deal with the situation, Canev invited famous psychics, including Marina Nanov, daughter of Colonel Nanov, a prophet with a reputation for accurate predictions. Marina made telepathic contact with the “Guardians” – ancient entities – warning that there was a hidden danger that should not be awakened. Another psychic, Ellie Loganova, also made contact with an ancient entity and felt a strong attraction from the object.
As they dug deeper, they discovered a giant stone barrier that glowed and trembled slightly, but no tools could destroy it. Despite the warnings of the ancient entities, Colonel Canev orders explosives to destroy the barrier, opening the entrance to a spiraling tunnel that leads deep underground. The tunnel is not a natural structure, with smooth walls and strange symbols carved into its surface.
Marina and Ellie feel a strong attraction to the dark shadow in the tunnel, despite the warnings from the entities. They go deeper and realize that this may be the entrance to an ancient power beyond human understanding. The soldiers following behind all sense the presence of something terrifying, but are forced to continue due to orders. It is the “seed,” its DNA became part of the formula for creating humanity, and that is why it is so heavily guarded to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.
Canev, who is fighting the fog pulling him back, tries to pull Ellie and the others toward the exit. He hears the entity laughing in his mind, promising peace and knowledge if he lets go. But when he sees the faint light of the exit, he puts all his strength into breaking free from it. After escaping, Canev ordered the area to be sealed off and all excavation activities stopped. The “Operation Sunray” plan claimed 18 lives and left only a few survivors with mental trauma.
After the operation ended, the town of Zarina experienced a series of mysterious phenomena: UFO sightings, poltergeist incidents, and even time warping. Folk tales began to circulate, but the people here wanted to forget the past.
Although the legend of the excavation lives on, many witnesses and elders in Zarina deny any unusual phenomena. They say that the area is nothing special. However, mysterious stories such as Pandora’s Box, the Tower of Babel, and the quest for knowledge always arouse curiosity and warn people about the consequences of seeking knowledge beyond their understanding.
