Oprah Winfrey. Rachel Maddow. Biz Stone. And many more. This is not just the list of game changers that America has produced, but also the established professionals David Letterman interviewed. Established in 2008, the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series aims to bring top leaders of their respective professions to Ball State so that students and the audience can benefit from it. T

he latest guest who will be grading the University is Caitlin Clark. However, amid the excitement, the happiness is short-lived since there are a number of rules imposed on the spectators.

As per Ball State’s latest announcement, the ROTY will be present in a conversation with Letterman on Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. at Ball State University’s Emens Auditorium. Since Clark-Fever has already gripped the nation, tickets for the event are expected to be in high demand. To nip the mismanagement in the bud, the program has decided to impose certain rules.

Students, faculty, and staff can obtain the tickets on the weekend of Nov 16-17, so there is no issue in the regular classes. The tickets for Emens will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, with reserved seating at no cost.

However, the downside is that students can only take two tickets per person. Though it allows more people to attend the event, they can’t make it in groups. Plus, any student taking two tickets must present an additional valid student ID after displaying their own.

Ball students can take tickets from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, and when they make it to the event, they will have to supplement their tix with student photo IDs. Meanwhile, they can pick up the passes between 1-3 p.m. on November 17 at the Emens Box Office. However, student tickets cannot be interchanged with other passes. Meanwhile, every guest speaks on a particular topic, and the theme for December’s chat with Clark remains to be seen.

David Letterman aims to add value with this event

While the 2023 chat with David Arquette was free, the conversation with journalist John Quiñones was based on From the Barrio to Network Television: The Power of Never Taking ‘No’ for an Answer. Similarly, Stedman Graham gave his take on identity leadership as the CEO of S. Graham and Associates and a bestselling author. Therefore, the event aims to add value around a particular topic to the audience’s life, especially that of students preparing to take on a world.

There was also a chat session with Tiara Thomas, the Oscar-winning singer and songwriter, and even on Esports with Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere with Drew Adamson. Therefore, it remains to be seen what advice Clark will give to her fans as she has climbed the ladders of success in a very short time. That blocks her schedule since she will be busy with golf in the next few days and then again in early December to get to the event.

Now, students will be hoping that Letterman asks some interesting questions to Clark while the ROTY once again enchants all, this time with her words.
