Hollyoaks’ Cleo McQueen is to reveal a tragic death wish, after making a shock discovery about Abe Fielding.
Cleo has been trapped in Abe’s flat for over a year now, convinced that everyone in the village still hates her for causing the motorbike accident.
On the outside, Abe is in a new relationship and is engaged to Peri. Cleo believes that he recently split up with her, but this isn’t true – and next week, he will suggest to Peri that they get married shortly before Christmas.
In scenes that will air in early December, Cleo and Abe do some crafting together, but they are interrupted by Peri’s arrival. She tells Abe that it is time they moved in together, but she is dismayed to receive a frosty reaction from him.
Later, Cleo notices that Abe seems distant, and she asks him what is wrong. He explains that Peri has been hassling him following their alleged break-up and assures Cleo that there is no one he’d rather be with.
Abe rushes off when he gets a call from his brother Joel, who surprises him with a drink for an impromptu stag do. Joel sneakily invites Peri over too, in the hope that the couple can make amends.
That night, Abe arrives home drunk, and while half-asleep he whispers that he loves Peri – leaving Cleo horrified. But she soon gets another shock when she sees that Marie is calling, confirming that while she believes she killed Abe’s mum, she is in fact still alive.
The next day, Abe wakes to find Cleo throwing up, and she tells him she has had an eating disorder relapse. He runs her a bath but gets scared when Peri turns up at the flat, armed with food for his hangover.
Cleo explains to Abe that she blacked out after getting a pain in her arm – the same pain she experienced back when she had a heart attack on her wedding day.
She reveals that her eating disorder has been back for months and tells Abe that if he has ever loved her, he would let her die happy.
With Cleo also asking Abe to marry her the next day, he has a big decision to make. But with the show’s winter trailer teasing Cleo’s clever escape plan, is she telling the truth?
These scenes will air on Tuesday, December 10 and Wednesday, December 11 on E4 and streaming service Channel 4.
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
