The WNBA has officially released its 2025 season schedule, promising a historic year for fans and players alike.

WNBA’s packed inaugural week in 2025

The season, now in its 29th iteration, tips off on Friday, May 16, and runs through Thursday, September 11.

With an expanded format of 44 games per team-the most in league history-this season is set to deliver more basketball than ever before.

A key highlight of the season’s launch is the debut of the Golden State Valkyries, the league’s newest expansion team.

They will host the Los Angeles Sparks in their inaugural game, capping off the first day of WNBA Tip-Off 2025.

Fans can also look forward to a highly anticipated matchup between the Dallas Wings, likely featuring top draft pick Paige Bueckers, and last season’s runner-up, the Minnesota Lynx.

As for the reigning Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark, her Indiana Fever will host Angel Reese’sChicago Sky on May 17th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

WNBA Comissioner’s Cup returns

The season’s expanded schedule includes a balanced split of 22 home and 22 away games for each team, ensuring fans across the country have ample opportunities to witness their favorite teams in action.

June will also feature the fifth annual WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, with a 17-day slate dedicated solely to Cup games, adding another layer of competition to the midseason.

“This season represents a new chapter in our league’s growth,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.

“With the addition of the Golden State Valkyries and our most extensive schedule yet, we’re building on the incredible momentum from last season’s record-breaking achievements in viewership, attendance, and digital engagement.”

The 2025 season will also bring marquee matchups, including a showdown between reigning champions New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces on May 17, and a series of four games between Finals rivals New York and Minnesota.

The full broadcast and streaming schedule will be announced in the coming months, further amplifying excitement for what promises to be a landmark season for the WNBA.
