The Caitlin Clark situation reaches PEAK insanity…
The Caitlin Clark situation is a story that is becoming increasingly confusing. We live in a world dominated by a so-called “woke” culture, and to be honest, it makes me very uncomfortable. There is something about this “woke” mindset that I cannot accept — it feels fundamentally wrong. When this mindset spreads, it can become a “mental virus,” and once it permeates society, things can get extremely negative.
And it is in this context that we have Caitlin Clark and what is happening in the WNBA. Caitlin, a rising star and a standout rookie this season, has achieved great success. But clearly, there is a big problem. Specifically, Megan Kelly criticized Caitlin for apologizing for her “white privilege” and saying that she wanted to support black female athletes who deserve more recognition. This got me thinking: Why would a talented athlete like Caitlin Clark have to endure such racial pressure?
Caitlin responded thoughtfully. She said that she understands the importance of supporting black female athletes in the WNBA, given their history in the league. She acknowledged that she is proud of her accomplishments, but is also conscious of the contributions black female athletes have made to the league. However, this does not mean that Caitlin should constantly apologize for being a white woman, especially when she is doing great things for women’s basketball. Caitlin’s success is not a “sin,” but a result of her own hard work and talent.
The problem here is the constant demand to acknowledge the contributions of another ethnic group to every success. Every time Caitlin wins a victory, she is forced to talk about the sacrifices of another group. It’s deeply unfair. Imagine spending your entire life training to become the face of a league that has struggled to attract an audience. And then, when you finally get the recognition, you are asked to apologize for your success.
The demand that Caitlin constantly talk about the contributions of black women in the WNBA is part of a larger narrative. But it’s not entirely true. The WNBA has been struggling financially for years, and it’s not possible to say that black women alone built the league. The WNBA system has survived largely on the backing of the NBA and corporate sponsors, not on the contributions of one ethnic group.
And now Caitlin Clark is bringing in record attendance and selling out stadiums—something the WNBA has never done before. Yet she can’t enjoy her success without being criticized for “white privilege.” This reflects a larger problem in modern culture, where racial issues are not only present in social discourse, but also permeate areas like sports.
What’s important here isn’t progress, but the fact that there is a faction of people who are trying to control the narrative, forcing white people like Caitlin to bow down, apologize, and acknowledge that their success came at the expense of other ethnic groups. The truth is, in the eyes of many, white success is always conditional — as if everything they achieve is due to others, and they owe it to others.
Ultimately, it’s not about progress or equality, it’s about power. This isn’t about fighting for social justice, it’s about forcing athletes to accept a racially-political narrative. Those who create this “woke” culture want to exert power, forcing individuals to bow to their demands. And this not only reflects division, but also hurts the very people who are trying to make change and make real progress.
The whole system is toxic, divisive, and misleading. The truth is, there’s nothing progressive about these demands. They’re just a strategy to consolidate power, and in the end, it only hurts people. It is not difficult to understand why we see the phrase “woke and broke” appearing more and more. This only shows the instability and absurdity in the way “woke culture” is dominating society.
