The Indiana Fever celebrated Caitlin Clark’s second WNBA Rookie of the Month nod by sharing a highlight reel of her entire first season so far.
I hope you’re free for the next 20 minutes.
Clark and the Fever sputtered out of the gate. The team opened at 1-8, while its star rookie was struggling with the adjustment to the pros.
The No. 1 overall pick started hitting her stride as the year unfolded. Her Rookie of the Month honor came after she averaged 20.3 points on 43.3 percent shooting along with 12.5 assists and 6.4 rebounds in six July games.
Although the Fever lost its final contest before the Olympic break, Clark set a single-game record for assists by dishing out 19 dimes.
A lot of fans were upset when the 22-year-old didn’t make the cut for the 2024 Summer Olympics. However, she sounds thrilled to take the next month off.
“I honestly can’t wait to not touch a basketball for a while,” she told reporters after the WNBA All-Star Game. “I’ve shot too many times in the past year.”
Things are positioned well for the Fever to solidify their position in the playoff race in the second half, and Clark can potentially open some distance on the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese in the race for Rookie of the Year.
