Caitlin Clark Doesn’t Hesitate to Name ‘Greatest Basketball Player of All Time’
Caitlin Clark is here to settle the GOAT debate – and relaunch the war between two generations of basketball lovers.
During an appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, Clark hesitated to compare her stardom to anyone else before eventually settling the LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate that has raged on for years.
“I don’t want to compare myself to anybody else, I don’t like that…I don’t know like I hate saying this…” she started before dropping the name of the “greatest basketball player of all time” in her mind.
“LeBron is, like, the greatest basketball player of all time. But obviously, he didn’t even go to college and he had all these expectations coming out of high school to be like the greatest player ever and obviously that’s a lot,” she admitted.
“That’s a lot to take on your shoulders, and a lot for the NBA at the time. And he’s obviously lived up to it.
He’s still one of the best players, if not the best player in the world still and he’s turning 40 this month or next month – whatever it is.
It’s incredible what he’s done for basketball and the way he’s carried himself. I’ve always been a fan of him.”
During her rookie season, Clark led the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 while earning Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.
The Fever’s 2025 regular season kicks off on May 17 with a battle against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
