Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History Against Dallas Wings

Caitlin Clark to make WNBA debut against Dallas Wings

On Sunday afternoon, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever went up against the Dallas Wings for the third and final time of the season. The Fever were looking to end a two-game losing streak that has brought them back to .500.

With 2:54 left in the third quarter, Clark Hit a long three-point shot to score her 746th point of the season. In doing so, she passed former Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus (744) for the most points by a rookie in WNBA history.

For Clark, it took 39 games to reach this point total, but for Augustus, it only took 34 games.

Augustus initially broke the record during her rookie season in 2006 where she, like Clark, was the No. 1 pick in the draft. She won four WNBA championships with the Lynx and was named an All-Star eight times.

This is not the only record Clark has broken in 2024. In the Fever’s previous game against the Las Vegas Aces, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star secured the record for most assists in a season in league history. Clark also has the only two triple-doubles by a WNBA rookie.

Clark and the Fever have one more game in the regular season before the playoffs begin. Odds are they will enter the postseason as the No. 6 seed.
