The Man Who Saw The Future
The Strange Story of Paul Amadeus Deno, a Swiss Man Who Fell into a Year-Long Coma, and When He Awakened, He Had the Ability to Predict the Future
In 1921, after falling ill, Paul Deno fell into a year-long coma, causing great concern to his family and friends. However, strangely, when he awoke, Deno was not only healthy, but also seemed to have the ability to predict future events. He described things like the iPad (a device that can transmit live images), nuclear wars, and the human exploration of Mars—all of which happened a century later.
Deno was a Swiss-Austrian teacher who loved to study ancient history and linguistics. Before falling into a coma, Deno was in poor health, and after a bout of illness, he suddenly fell into a strange sleep. Family and friends tried everything to wake him up, but to no avail. He was eventually taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him as having fallen into a coma for no apparent reason.
During his 14-day coma, Deno showed no signs of waking up, much to the despair of his mother. It was not until a year later, in May 1922, that Deno awoke and was completely healthy. However, after he awoke, he became strange. He seemed to avoid contact with friends and family, spending his time reading books on philosophy and talking to his priest—a major change from his previous lack of interest in religion.
Deno later contracted tuberculosis and had to move to Athens, Greece for treatment. During this time, the strange things about him continued. One day, while sitting in front of the Parthenon, Deno talked about looking at an ancient structure in the future, and he claimed that in 2,000 years, the barriers would be removed. Deno also shared something strange with his friend—he was not himself, but a man named Andreas Nordom. Deno believed that he had switched souls with this man after Nordom had an accident and died.
Deno also discovered that he was no longer in 1921, but in 3906. He began to realize that he was living in a future time period, which caused him to fall into a state of mental turmoil. Deno met a group of “Lectors,” spiritual leaders, who helped him learn more about the future and his precognitive abilities.
Deno eventually died in 1924 of tuberculosis, and his story was forgotten until 1972, when his student, George Papahatzis, published a book based on Deno’s diary, revealing the strange experiences Deno had during his coma.
In the year 3906, Dino lives in a world filled with advanced technology and great achievements, such as towering castles, hanging gardens, and underground cities. While these concepts may seem familiar to the current generation, in Dino’s time, they were almost unimaginable. There were no science fiction movies back then, and what Dino saw seemed like a dream.
Dino was a man who loved philosophy and his future life, where he was exposed to people of deep thought and spiritual enlightenment. One day, Dino decided to take a spiritual journey to “Rose Valley,” which was the spiritual center of the city. It was home to the elite intellectuals who specialized in philosophy and science. Dino traveled there on a flying boat, and upon arriving, he was overwhelmed by its beauty and mystery: magnificent temples, brilliant flower gardens, and shining gems everywhere. He immediately fell in love with the place and stayed there for several weeks.
However, as time passed, Dino began to miss his old life, especially his first love, Anna. This was a memory that made Dino heartbroken. When he was young, Dino fell in love with Anna, a girl from his village. But life did not go as expected. Anna was forced by her family to marry someone else and died not long after. Before Anna got married, Dino and Anna went to the top of the hill together, spending beautiful hours together. Before parting, Anna promised Dino that she would meet him again and would make a wreath from the windflowers on the top of the hill, placing it on his head. This promise was deeply imprinted in Dino’s mind.
During a trip to his old village, Dino and his current girlfriend, Sylvia, happened to come across the same hill where he and Anna had sat together before. When Sylvia decided to leave, she suddenly made a wreath from windflowers and put it on Dino’s head. This shocked Dino because it was exactly like Anna’s promise. Could Anna have reincarnated and gone back in time to fulfill her promise? Dino was still confused about this.
When sharing this experience with his friend Stefan, Stefan explained that time is not a linear flow, and that Sylvia was most likely Anna’s reincarnated soul, going back through the centuries to fulfill her promise. This was further reinforced when Dino realized that Sylvia began to have feelings for him after he began living in the body of Andreas Nordom, whom she had previously had no feelings for. This made Dino believe in reincarnation even more.
Dino then begins to feel tired, and eventually falls into a deep sleep, after a year of living in the future. When he wakes up, he finds himself back in the 20th century and his old body. Although it may seem unbelievable, many of Dino’s predictions about the future have come true. His writings about agriculture, environmental issues, the rise of individualism, and the threat of nuclear weapons have all been accurate.
Dino also mentions technologies such as flying ships, holography, and communication with aliens—things that were seemingly unheard of in his time. So how could he have made such accurate predictions? One theory is that these memories may be a creation of the mind, or a type of false memory.
There is a true story that demonstrates how memories can be altered or “created” after psychological trauma. A man named Alpha Cabij was in an accident and upon waking from a coma, he had false memories of a life he never lived. Memory researchers have shown that memories are not exact records of what happened, but can be altered or “reconstructed” through neural connections.
Dino may have gone through a similar process after waking from a coma, with his mind attempting to fill in the gaps in his memory with images from the past. Another theory is that Dino’s story may be a work of fiction, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s book “The Shadow Out of Time.” This story shares elements of Dino’s story, such as coma and time travel.
However, there is no clear evidence that Paul Amadeus Dino ever existed, and many details of his story have been questioned. The documents and images associated with him appear to be forged, which makes the story all the more ambiguous and unbelievable.
Ultimately, the big question remains: Is Dino’s story true? We may never know for sure, but the story is still fascinating and makes one ponder the magic of memory, time travel, and possibilities beyond our understanding.
