Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer has revealed that there will be more drama on the horizon for his character Prince McQueen.
Prince found himself in a messy situation recently, when he slept with his brother Hunter’s girlfriend Zoe shortly before Hunter tragically died.
Zoe ended up pregnant, and while they kept things secret for a while, Prince’s girlfriend Dilly found out and told the McQueen family.
Lime PicturesThings got more complicated when Prince proposed to Dilly, but shortly after Zoe gave birth, and she and Prince shared a kiss in the hospital.
Speaking to Digital Spy at a recent press event, Malique explained what it was like to play this messy situation on screen.
“He’s fallen in love with Dilly, but then he went behind Dilly’s back with Zoe,” he said. “That’s beyond Prince, he is usually a very loyal person. So for him to do that, it must mean that Zoe really sparked something in his heart.”
Lime PicturesThis week, the soap jumped forward a year in time, and it was revealed that Prince is now in a relationship with Zoe.
There were joyous engagement scenes for the couple as Prince planned a sweet proposal involving their child Theo, but Malique revealed that things aren’t quite as happy as they might seem.
He said: “If you watch Prince now, he looks like he’s the happiest guy in the world, but he’s not. Deep down, he’s really hurting and he’s keeping his emotions bottled up.
Lime Pictures“He lost his brother; he’s done something terrible behind his brother’s back. But at the same time, he’s got this beautiful baby. He’s surviving, but there’s all these mixed emotions that are going on at the minute.”
There hasn’t yet been an explanation as to what happened to Prince’s relationship with Dilly, but Malique has teased that we might not have seen the last of their romance.
“I think there’s definitely more to come,” he said. “I think Prince still has a lot of feelings for Dilly. And I feel like in the future, Prince might actually cheat on Zoe with Dilly. That’s not confirmed, but I feel like that’s coming!”

“That’s a hard choice,” he admitted. “I think the universe has brought Zoe and Prince together, without him even searching for it. He was in love with Dilly – and that’s crazy to say, because he did go behind her back, but he didn’t mean to hurt her.
“I think if all of this didn’t happen and he didn’t get Zoe pregnant, I think he would still be with Dilly. I think it’d be a great relationship. But this is Hollyoaks at the end of the day!”
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
