The actor has already started filming at the show’s set in Liverpool and will appear as the recast version of Bobby in a few weeks’ time.
Further details of his storyline are being kept closely under wraps for now, although he has been filming scenes with Hollyoaks favourite Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Bobby’s mum Mercedes.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Zak commented: “I’m having a lot of fun with my time on Hollyoaks so far. It’s exciting to get into something gritty and complex.”
A show source added: “Mercedes hasn’t been able to see her son Bobby recently. Fans know that she’s been undergoing treatment for bowel cancer and recently spent time in prison.
