The Traitors

Truth is finally revealed after Traitors fans spot ‘family link’ between contestants

The Traitors star Alex Oleksy has responded after viewers became convinced he was related to another player.

On last night’s episode of the BBC game series, the 29-year-old care manager from Whitby was banished after wrongly arousing suspicions during the discussion about who might not be a Faithful.

It came after fans of the show started speculating Alex might be hiding a secret and suggesting he was related to 62-year-old Lisa Coupland, an Anglican priest from Cornwall.

After noticing both were the only contestants this season to have their social media accounts set to private, some believed Lisa might actually be Alex’s mother-in-law.

However, after the latest episode aired, Alex went on to appear on the companion series The Traitors: Uncloaked and cleared up the rumours.

The show’s host Ed Gamble remarked how both Frankie and Lisa were ‘quite upset’ by Alex being booted from the game, before addressing fans’ theories.

‘It seems like you struck up some really close friendships with them, especially Lisa. Now there have been some rumours going around that Lisa is your mum or mother-in-law?’ he said.

Alex then explained how he’d received a text from his sister asking: ‘Why do you look more like the priest on The Traitors than our mum?’

Laughing, Alex declared: ‘And it’s so true! I looked it and thought “there’s been a swap in the hospital’.

‘We need a DNA test done now!’

Although he shut down claims he is related to Lisa, Alex revealed she and Linda came to his recent wedding, but they had to come up with ‘an elaborate backstory’ about how they knew each other to hide their appearance on the BBC show from other guests.

‘I was like “Linda don’t spoil this one, come on!”,’ Alex quipped.

At the start of this season one of the Traitors, Armani Gouveia, revealed she was taking part with her sister, Maia Gouveia, however they were eventually cut on the same night, with Maia murdered after her sister was exposed during a banishment.

Last season Diane Carson dropped a bombshell when revealing that fellow contestant Ross was her son after people began to suspect that she was Paul Gorton’s mum.
