The Traitors star Freddie Fraser has opened up about what it was like for his girlfriend when he went on the BBC series, sharing that it was a ‘scary situation’ for both of them.

Last week, the final of the 2025 season saw Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown crowned joint winners, with each taking home a cash prize of £47,300 from a total jackpot of £94,600.

Freddie narrowly missed out on making it to the final, after being recruited by Charlotte Berman as a Traitor at the final hurdle and then being consequently thrown under the bus, leading to his swift banishment.

Following the grand finale, the 20-year-old reflected on the whole experience while speaking to Metro, discussing how he’d initially planned to enact a ‘charm’ strategy on the other contestants, and what his girlfriend thought of his gameplay.

Going into the castle, Freddie had said that he considered ‘flirting’ with other players – but clarified in hindsight that he meant he would use his ‘charming skills’ to forge trust.

‘It was just to be myself really,’ he said of his strategy. ‘I can’t lie, as we’ve obviously, clearly seen.

‘I just thought the only way I’m going to get through this is by being myself, and if that is having suspicion on me, then so be it. But I was pretty proud of myself, the way I defended myself throughout each round.’

Looking back on what he might have done differently, he instantly said that he wouldn’t have made up the lie that banished Traitor Minah Shannon told him about Leanne’s shield, and he would have also gone ‘a bit harder for Charlotte’ after she turned her back on him.

He also stressed that Charlotte is a ‘lovely person’, revealing that the’ve had a ‘laugh’ about what went down since reuniting in the real world.

‘I think I was just so stunned. But I kind of kind of forgot what game I was playing for a minute, and then I was like, “Okay, now she’s being cutthroat. I’ll vote for you,”’ he shared. ‘If I could do it again, I just wouldn’t want to be a Traitor ever.’

Since going on The Traitors, Freddie’s following on his Instagram has soared to 100,000.

The politics student said that his girlfriend ‘enjoyed’ watching him on Traitors, although it was ‘overwhelming’ for them both at the same time.

‘She enjoyed the watch, for sure. I think she was a bit overwhelmed to begin with because it’s quite a lot of attention going on,’ he said.

‘We’re quite young still, so it was quite like a scary situation that we both haven’t been in, but she’s been really supportive and stuff like that. So she was happy with it.’

While Freddie might have not been destined to make it to the end as a recruited Traitor, he did have a fascinating theory in the game about a possible familial connection.

‘I did think maybe Joe and Dan were brothers or something, because they used to squabble almost like they knew each other on the outside,’ he said, of Faithfuls Dan Bird and Joe Scott.

However, considering all of the heat that was on Freddie from very early in the game when he was still a Faithful, he ‘wasn’t going to start throwing wild accusations like that around’.

One of the biggest theories among fans of the show was the belief that Francesca ‘Frankie’ Rowan-Plowden was Freddie’s mum – and even contestants on this year’s series were convinced by the idea.

‘Even in our WhatsApp group after the shows, as it’s been coming out, they kept saying, “We can’t wait to see the reveal,”’ Freddie admitted.

‘To be fair, watching it back, it kind of does look like it a little bit. There are similarities, like even at the dinner table when we’re both talking about what we would do with the money, we’re both almost describing the same situation, but obviously for different people.’

Looking ahead to the future of The Traitors, the deadline to apply to be on the fourth season of the UK series is mere days away.

As someone who now knows the ins and outs of what it’s really like to play the game, Freddie backed the possible idea of giving the players the opportunity to win shields for the roundtables, so they couldn’t be banished.

‘I think that would have been quite a funny twist as well, if knowing that you’re safe, you can just keep accusing people and stuff like that. So, I mean, that’s quite a good one,’ he stated.

Addressing future Traitors hopefuls, Freddie acknowledged that there might be ‘little things’ that they can prepare for if they’re applying to compete… but strategies often end up going out the window.

He summaried: ‘If you’re applying for it, you’ve just got to go with being yourself, whatever your strategy is.’
