Celebrity Traitors has been thrown into chaos after two stars withdrew from the BBC show weeks before filming.

Speculation has been rife over who could be competing in the broadcaster’s first celebrity spin-off of the hit game of deception.

Rumoured names have included the likes of Sir Stephen Fry, soap legend Danny Dyer and Friends star Courteney Cox.

However, no longer packing their bags for the Scottish castle are reportedly This Country’s Daisy May Cooper, 38, and Charlie Cooper, 35.

The siblings have pulled out of Celebrity Traitors due to scheduling demands weeks before filming stars in April.

A source claimed Daisy realised the show would be ‘tough’ as a mum-of-three as she would have to be ‘completely off-grid’.

A source told The Sun: ‘Daisy May and Charlie were so excited about taking part but once the demands of the show became clear Daisy had to sadly accept it would be tough as a mum-of-three.

‘The Traitors cast has to be completely off-grid and can’t be on FaceTime every night, or nipping to see their children on a day off filming.

‘Everyone tried to make it work but Daisy obviously has to put her family first.’

In response, a BBC spokesperson told Metro: ‘We don’t comment on speculation.’

Last week, Sir Stephen, 67, did little to pour cold water over rumours he had signed up for Celebrity Traitors when questioned by Metro at the Newport Beach Film Festival‘s UK and Ireland Honours event at Raffles London at The OWO.

‘I can say that the BBC would slice off my testicles if I were to comment publicly on the possibility of such a thing as dwelling in a castle in Scotland for a week or two – or indeed for a day or two, quite likely.

‘I would be fired in the driveway, which is the thing they sometimes do, isn’t it, before you even get there, if you say the wrong thing.’

One celebrity the Traitors team failed to secure, however, is The Apprentice’s Baroness Karren Brady.

‘I was asked and the answer was no,’ the 55-year-old businesswoman previously told Metro.

When asked why she turned the offer down, Baroness Brady replied: ‘One, I’ve never seen it. Two, I don’t have the time. I mean, I have a full-time job and The Apprentice is filmed just in my sweet spot in the summer when the football season is over, so I can just about fit in. But that’s it.’

While the celebrity spin-off will be the next Traitors to grace our screens, anyone hoping to get involved in the fourth series of the main show have their chance with applications extended until March 28.

The Traitors executive producer Mike Cotton previously told Metro they didn’t want people to sign up who were searching for fame.
‘We’re actively looking for people who have got a passion for playing that game, and potentially might come to it with a game plan or a strategy,’ he said.

‘But we’re also looking for people who can bring something from their own lives to it, whether that’s a skillset, whether that’s from a past job, whether that’s a hobby, or some sort of life experience that they’ve had.’

He added: ‘It’s a bit like when you’re putting together a jury I guess, in that we look for people from all sorts of different backgrounds and all walks of life that we can put together, that give us a diverse cross-section of the UK.’

Metro has contacted Charlie and Daisy’s reps for comment.
