Caitlin Clark’s historic first regular season in the WNBA came to an end on Thursday as the Indiana Fever fell to the Washington Mystics 92-91.

With Indiana having already secured the No. 6 seed in the playoffs, many of the Fever’s stars, including Clark saw limited action in the loss. Clark played just 20 minutes, scoring eight points and totaling eight assists and five rebounds.

Even with Indiana’s starters resting for much of the game, the Fever’s bench stepped up and made things interesting, though they fell short of a comeback. Still, it’s a positive sign to see strong play from the bench ahead of the playoffs.

It was only fitting that one of the most anticipated WNBA seasons in league history ended with a record-breaking crowd.

While the game ultimately didn’t matter for the Fever, fans were somewhat disappointed to see Clark have a quiet season finale.

Now, the Fever begin preparations for their first-round matchup against the Connecticut Sun. It’s safe to say fans are hyped for the playoff meeting between the two teams.

This season marks Indiana’s first playoff appearance since 2016, a testament to the difference Clark, Aliyah Boston and other young stars have made early in their careers.

Clark finished her rookie year averaging 19.5 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game, and it would be a shock if she didn’t take home the Rookie of the Year award. Now with a historic regular season behind her, she’ll look to lead the Fever to playoff success.
