The WNBA‘s 2024 No. 1 overall pick and Indiana Fever star rookie, Caitlin Clark, has had one of the best rookie seasons in league history. Breaking record after record, and carving out an astounding new audience, Clark has quickly become one of the faces of the WNBA.

With that popularity, she has naturally gone viral on countless occasions throughout the season for various reasons. Most notably, each time she breaks a record, fans can’t help but post in awe of her.

That said, following her season finale in which she passed Diana Taurasi for the second-most three-pointers made in a season, Clark went viral for a nickname given by Scott Van Pelt. That nickname being “The Reality”, which he tied to a quote from Taurasi when she was speaking on Clark’s welcome to the league as she said “reality is coming”.

This nickname is not only fitting, but it is one of the coldest nicknames in recent memory. Clark came into the league with high expectations and had a ton of people, including WNBA players, not giving her enough credit.

This season she came into the league and shut it down, averaging nearly 20 PPG, while leading the league in assists. She also broke the franchise scoring record for the Fever, and finished with the most points by a guard in a single season in WNBA history. These stats are just the tip of the iceberg of her unreal season.

That said, much thanks to her play this year, this nickname has begun to catch on, as it’s going viral on Twitter or “X”. One person even called the nickname the “illest nickname ever”.

Another person even made quite the graphic with Clark’s jersey saying that she is the reality.

It’s going to be awesome to see this nickname catch on if Clark makes a deep run into the playoffs. It is a very cool nickname, and it would become even cooler if she takes down some big names in her fight to the championship. That said, only time will tell on that front, but she should absolutely be celebrated for the season she’s had.
