Caitlin Clark Comments on Winning Unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year Award

The Associated Press recently announced its 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award winner. After a long battle between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, Clark has come out on top.

The Fever rookie was named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, winning the award unanimously by the AP. She was also named to the sites All-WNBA First Team and All-Rookie Team.

As the announcement dropped, the AP attached Clark’s response to winning the award. She was thankful for the honor and mentioned that she looks forward to continuing her journey in the WNBA playoffs.

“This is a tremendous honor to be named The Associated Press Rookie of the Year,” Clark said. “This recognition wouldn’t be possible without an incredible group of teammates and coaches, and we are looking forward to continuing an exciting regular season in the postseason.”

The rookie finished the year averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. She led the WNBA in average assists and led the rookie class in average points in the 2024 regular season.

Clark helped the Fever enter the conversation to win the WNBA title as they punched a ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2016.

Following the AP’s announcement, they mentioned that while Clark came into the year with more hype than any other rookie in the WNBA’s history, she was still potentially able to exceed expectations.

The No. 1 pick from the 2024 draft wasn’t just considered one of the best first-year players in the eyes of the AP. They believe Clark was a top overall player, adding her to the All-WNBA team.
