Sun Star Reveals ‘Ultimate Disrespect’ Before WNBA Playoffs vs. Fever

Calls Mount for Christie Sides' Firing After Fever-Sun Game - Athlon Sports
Alyssa Thomas is not happy with the recent disrespect that the Connecticut Sun received before they played Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Playoffs.

The WNBA All-Star made sure to highlight their experience and call out those responsible for it.

Apparently, in the build-up to the Fever-Sun WNBA playoffs Game 1 on Sunday, Thomas and Connecticut had to share their practice court with some people celebrating the birthday of a 2-year-old.

Thomas admitted that she felt it was the “ultimate disrespect.” After all, they are a professional basketball team preparing for an important game in their season. However, they couldn’t maximize their time given the lack of resources and support.

“It’s normal at this point. I mean, Mohegan has to do better,” Thomas told Gabby Alfveby of The Next before their Sunday showdown with the Fever.

“We’re [a] professional team. We’re competing for playoffs. And yeah, to have to share your court with a two-year-old[‘s] birthday party, [it’s the] ultimate disrespect.”

Thomas added that they “need more” and “better” support if they are to “compete at the highest level.”

Despite what happened, though, the Sun showed everyone what they are capable of by destroying Caitlin Clark and the Fever, 93-69, in their playoff opener. Alyssa Thomas led the way with a huge triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.

Marina Mabrey top-scored for Connecticut with 27 points on 5-of-12 shooting from deep. DeWanna Bonner chipped in 22 points as the Sun led by as many as 26.

Connecticut and Indiana will meet again in Game 2 on Wednesday. Sure enough, hopes are high that there won’t be any more distractions for the Sun as they try to close out the Fever.
