Caitlin Clark Reveals What Excites Her the Most After WNBA Playoff Exit
It’s going to be a tough next few days/weeks for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever as they come to terms with a failed run in the WNBA playoffs.
The Fever made a lot of noise in the second half of the regular-season, winning eight out of their first 10 games after the month-long Olympic break. They came crashing back down to Earth on Wednesday, however, after suffering a season-ending 87-81 loss to the Connecticut Sun, who for their part, are now heading to the semifinals after sweeping Indiana 2-0 in a first-round matchup.
Clark will get over it, though. She knows full well that she had an incredible rookie campaign and that she played an integral role in leading the Fever to their first playoff berth in eight years.
Speaking to the press after Wednesday’s heartbreaking defeat, Clark stated that the best is yet to come from her.
“The fun part is I feel like I’m just scratching the surface, and I’m one that’s nitpicking every single thing I do,” she said, via Andrea Adelson of ESPN. “I know I want to help this franchise get even better, help my teammates get even better, and I know there’s a lot of room for me to continue to improve.
“So that’s what excites me the most. I feel like I could continue to get a lot better, and before we know it, I’m sure we’ll all be back here and ready for the next year.”
That’s a bold statement to make right after suffering a series sweep in the first-round. However, this is Caitlin Clark we’re talking about here, and if there’s anyone capable of coming back with a vengeance next season, it has to be her.
The question now is if the rest of the WNBA will be ready for Year 2 of Caitlin Clark.
