LA Sparks Coach Leaves No Doubt About His Opinion of Caitlin Clark

There was only one WNBA game on Wednesday night, but it featured Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever defeating the Los Angeles Sparks in a close game. The Fever got the 93-86 win at Gainbridge Filedhouse, and Clark made history in the process.

The Fever star became the first rookie to hit 100 or more three-pointers in a season. She ended the game with a 24-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double with four three-pointers in the victory.

Fever coach Christie Sides once again had plenty to say about her star rookie. On the other hand, Sparks coach Curt Miller offered a long, glowing review of Clark, per Jacob Rude.

“She’s really special,” Miller said, “I don’t have a lot of comps. I have different breakdowns of people within her game, but she has it all.”

Miller mentioned both Sue Bird and Becky Hammon’s playing styles during their WNBA days. Then, he even mentioned how he coached Hammon when she was in college and how Clark’s play reminds him of that.

:I see elements of Caitlin that I got to witness firsthand with the opportunity to coach Becky Hammon early in her career,” the Spearks coach noted.

Moreover, Miller also spoke about Clark’s size and how she can continue to grow in her career.

“Caitlin’s got great size,” Miller stated. “She’s going to just grow at the defensive end as her career goes on because she’s got length and size and she’ll just become better and better at the end. She’s a special player and we’re really, really fortunate to have her in our league.”

Miller has coached a lot of great teams, including college stints as the head coach at Bowling Green and Indiana. Then he coached the Connecticut Sun and was named two-time WNBA Coach of the Year before taking the Sparks job.

What Clark has done in her rookie season is something special. She is averaging 18.7 PPG with 8.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds and is in a two-way race with Angel Reese for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

The Fever have just six games left in the regular season, but they clinched a playoff spot earlier in the week, and WNBA fans will be happy to see Clark play in the postseason.
