Angel Reese is buzzing with anticipation for her return to Chicago following yet another stellar performance on the court. Rose Basketball Club, featuring Reese, beat Sabrina Ionescu’s Phantom Basketball Club in a decisive 71-59 victory on Monday, propelling them to second place in the Unrivaled league standings.

Reese dazzled with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists, while teammates Chelsea Gray and Lexie Hill contributed with 26 and 13 points respectively.

Despite scepticism from numerous pundits earlier in the season when Rose won only one of their initial five matches in the 3-on-3 league, the team has turned the tide with five straight victories, eyeing a spot in next month’s semi-finals.

With a recent tally of 73 points across four games, Reese was prolific and shared her formula for success post-match: “I’m just trying to get better every single day.
“First one in the gym, last one to leave the gym. I just want to put in the work everyday because I don’t ever want to feel like I’m out of work. The work gonna show, and I’m excited to get back to Chicago. Go Sky!”
Ahead of the upcoming WNBA season, she aims to keep shining among the league’s luminaries. As a former LSU standout, Reese will join the Chicago Sky once again in 2025 after an impressive freshman year.

Her debut saw her ascend to WNBA All-Star status, land a spot on the All-Rookie Team, and emerge as the leading rebounder in 2024. Despite Reese’s stellar performances, the Sky could only muster 13 wins in 40 outings, missing out on a playoff berth.

She was overshadowed by Caitlin Clark, the ex-Iowa sensation now with the Indiana Fever who topped the league charts for assists and bagged Rookie of the Year accolades.

The duo were once rivals during their college days when LSU triumphed over Iowa with a scoreline of 102-85, securing the NCAA national title in 2023. Reese’s remarks on Monday reflected her resolve to outshine Clark and reaffirm her standing in the WNBA.

Post-game on Monday, she voiced her team’s underdog sentiment, mentioning: “It’s a team effort. I mean, everybody stepped up and did their job. I think everybody just did their job, offensively and defensively.

“We have a chip on our shoulder right now. Five-game winning streak, we keep going. They ranked us at the bottom. We was the last team, nobody believed in us. We believed in each other in the locker room, so we just keep proving each other right, come in everyday and work, (and) the work shows.”
