Angel Reese’s mom took a jab at Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The WNBA star’s mom, Angel Webb Reese, penned a pointed post on X after her daughter made her return to LSU’s arena for a Chicago Sky preseason game against the Brazilian national team on Friday, May 2.
Following the game, fans compared the attendance at Reese’s return to that of the expected turnout at Clark’s first game back at the Hawkeyes arena on Sunday, May 4.
According to ESPN, a total of 6,373 fans attended Reese’s return to the Tigers arena. Meanwhile, Clark and the Fever drew in 14,998 fans to the Iowa Hawkeyes’ arena as they played the same Brazilian national team.

Angel Webb, who is also mom to University of Maryland basketball player Julian Reese, wrote, “Aww that certain fan base looking in the stands celebrating ‘attendance’ while others are looking up in the rafters celebrating championship banners,” likely referring to her daughter’s NCAA championship in 2023 over Clark’s Hawkeyes.
That season, both Reese and Clark rose to fame as their matchup for the title brought in 9.9 million viewers, per ESPN. The next year, in her last college season before entering the WNBA, Clark’s Hawkeyes brought in 18.7 million viewers in their championship game against South Carolina. Ultimately, the Gamecocks defeated Clark and Iowa for the title.
“We ain’t the same,” Angel Webb continued in her post on X. “Different year same haters. Have a great day.”
The Sky star’s mother turned off the comments on her post.
